- This latte is loaded with the goods. The good fats that come from the coconut milk + coconut butter make it perfect to whip up as your morning bulletproof latte (sans honey + tacos!).
- What gives this latte its beautiful hue is SPIRULINA – a true superfood. It’s a blue-green algae that grows in fresh water that’s packed with b-vitamins, iron, omega-3s, antioxidants, and phytonutrients. It’s nutrients are actually known to have extremely high bioavailability. This means that you’re able to absorb and utilize the nutrients efficiently within your body! It’s an amazing source of chlorophyl, which helps keep your body alkaline and assists it in #detoxification. It’s also incredibly high in plant protein – up to 70% by weight! Technically we don’t often consume it in large enough quantities to be considered an optimal protein source – but it still has its benefits. Phycocyanin is the unique compound in spirulina that is responsible for that pretty blue-ish colour. It is known to support the brain, heart, immune system and much more! I use Organika spirulina.
- On its own spirulina is definitely not the tastiest. I’ve forced it down for a while, but I truly believe that our bodies are much more accepting of the nourishment foods can bring us when we actually enjoy them! I like to get creative and make these superfoods tasty (and pretty!).
